Happy Season’s Eve!

So, you soccer fanatics have just watched the flurry of season-ending races in Europe: Chelsea squeaking by Man U in the Premier League, Barcelona edging out Real Madrid in La Liga and Inter holding off Roma in Serie A… The excitement is dwindling in club play (save a little thing we call the Champions League, set to wrap up on our first match day — Saturday!). All eyes are beginning to turn toward the international quadrennial World Cup, kicking off in South Africa this June. But for a few of us in Chattanooga, the most exciting soccer event is about to begin…

At long last — after 10 long months — the soccer faithful in our fair scenic city are only a couple days away from the season opener. The kickoff for great live soccer played by OUR team: Chattanooga FC! How many Chattahooligans will be joining us down in Atlanta this Saturday night for the kickoff? We hope to see more than 100 of you (75 traveled to Atlanta last year)… We can’t begin to say how hopeful we are at the start of this second season of great quality soccer in Chattanooga.

Some final thoughts from us as we press toward the starting whistle on May 22:

Who will be our starting 11?
Word is that the coaches have their hands full trying to determine the starting roster as a good 25 players are competing for the spots. And from what we’ve seen in the scrimmages thus far, we are glad not to be the coaches! It won’t be easy choosing to bench some of this talent…

Can we do it?
Can we win the division this year? We here at The Chattahooligan.com feel that if we had all our players eligible for the first 3 games last year, we could’ve won the conference then. This year the team looks even stronger, and goal scoring looks to be more prolific. Our expectations are high!

10K?
With the amazing opportunity to have our home opener against the U23 team for the Mexican Primera’s FC Atlas, we think we should easily achieve our goal of 5,000 or more in attendance at the first game in Finley. The question is probably: is 10,000 possible?

ChattanoogaFC.com
Keep an eye out, the buzz is that a great new Chatt FC web site is about ready to launch. Season 2.0 meets web 3.0! Rumors of a great new look and much added functionality abound!

New Look for 2010?
A seemingly minor question, but one of great interest to the hardcore ultras: do we have a new jersey for the new season? We have seen some navy training jerseys and the nice white standards from last season, but no new unis. What gives? Can’t VW spring for a good new look? The ‘hooligans are all about the gear! Come on: Das Jerseys!

Economic Recovery Brew?
Last, but certainly not least: will there still be cheap beer served at our home games? Perhaps the most important Q to get an A!

Help us out Chattanooga FC! And Go ‘nooga!
