Chattanooga FC officials wish to remind you that the Chattahooligan is very unofficial (and so is this schedule!)… however, that is exactly what gives us the privilege of sneak previews! So anyway, be aware that the NPL has not approved this schedule, and it may be subject to change.
Just in: the 2010 NPSL Southeast Division season schedule, and more importantly the schedule for Chattanooga FC. (Tentative of course, this is the NPSL after all and you never know when they might add a team from Arkansas or Nebraska!)
May 22 at Atlanta FC
May 29 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup maybe???
June 5 Home vs Pumas FC
June 12 at Tulsa FC
June 19 Home vs Atlanta FC
June 26 at Rocket City United (Huntsville)
July 4 Home vs Tulsa
July 10 at Pumas FC (Brimingham)
July 17 Home vs Rocket City United
And then hopefully we’ll be off to the NPSL national championship in Madison, AL (near Huntsville) for July 30-August 1.

John Q: thanks for stealing CFC's thunder on PR and marketing for the season schedule… I hope none of these dates get rearranged on you!
AND the problem with entering the US Open Cup is that probably half our of team is college players, so we will only have had 2 weeks of practice as a full team before entering the competition! Even with good players, odds might be against us.
RE: PR…Word.
RE: Open Cup…Word.
Plus, if that schedule is accurate, May 29 looks like a great date to bring in a good game. I think most CFC fans want more HOME games, not away games!
CFC is Chattanooga's team–we want them in Chattanooga playing as much as possible.
Guest – quite true, more home games = good. But I think we also would love home games against good teams. Beating good teams in the US Open Cup can prove CFC's mettle – and lead to better teams being willing to come play in Chattanooga.
Right now, I am not sure Vancouver or Carolina or the like would really be at all into coming to play here… we don't have 'cred' yet. We don't need the US CUp for that, but it could speed our credibility along.
All of the USL 1 calibre teams would be interested in Chattanooga, very much so! Would need to be early though, as in the end of March, which would not suit.
Jimmy Neutron – you sound like someone in the know on USL 1… so why so early (march we mean)? To get it in before the USL season starts in earnest?
Right, but we are only in our second year, rely on college players for a good percentage of the roster (early to mid-May arrival) and the entire leadership of CFC is volunteer. Another game or two generates more revenue and sets the stage for being able to become more financially stable in the future. I think it is a bit premature to push the team into the US Cup. I worry about limited success trying to do too much too early. Instead, let's hit that 5,000 number this season and watch it take off!
I like this prelim. schedule. Ending the season with a home match vs. Rocket City is gonna be AWESOME! It's a safe bet the division will come down to us two (no offense, Tulsa). With the last game of the season being a "for all the marbles showdown", Finley Stadium will be a block party of frenzy dipped in sweet, chocolaty hysteria!
Guest – Thanks for the well reasoned argument about 'why not' to the US Cup. The logic makes sense to us too… but, isn't there something to be said for establishing a go-for-broke attitude for the team – one willing to play the best squads we can? And since our team persona is early in development, why not do that now?
We think that attitude might draw attention from some good players who might not consider playing for a 'semi-pro' squad. But if they could see how they fare against pros AND have a chance to be seen by other coaches and scouts.
Yes, there is something to be said for the go for broke attitude. We should definitely be playing great competition and as soon as possible AND in Chattanooga. This team is supported by many casual fans of the game. I've talked to them all over town. Many never played the game or even watched a full game before last summer. What an incredible achievement. That is why there were over 3000 at the last game. Die hard fans want exactly what you want but the casual fans want home games, beer and the social scene. There should be a great balance in all of these desires and so far so good.
The best thing is that we all agree on one thing: we love CFC being in Chattanooga. Thanks for the forum where we can agree and disagree about Chattanooga's soccer team.
