Best Local Soccer?

Dear faithful readers, we apologize for being late to this game — we have only tended to focus on the highest level of soccer being played in the region (Chattanooga FC)… But it has been brought to our attention that true soccer fans in Chattanooga are well aware of great soccer at all other levels: college, high school and select clubs. Right now it happens to be part-way through the boy’s high school and girl’s select soccer seasons here in Tennessee.

So we want to ask: what are the best local teams playing right now? Both in Boy’s High School and in Girl’s Select?

Don’t be shy or afraid to show your biases!

  1. Well, as a father of a player I am obviously biased, and, as a scout, I have only seen a couple local high school teams play, so take this with a grain of salt: but I really am enjoying the way McCallie's varsity boy's team is playing this year… lots of possession and nice passing.

(Wish there was more striking though!)

  2. I think CCS is the better team and will prove it this saturday!

  3. Having seen McCallie play, I think that their size and speed is unmatched in Chattanooga. They are quite an intimidating team at first glance (their pre-game chant included). However, they don't seem to find the back of the net as much as you might expect. Looking outside the Chatt region, the best high school team I have seen this year is Atlanta's Westminister: Their defense is solid, they have quick, strong forwards, but their most dangerous weapon is their midfield. They have have two lighting quick center mids who rotate playing time and who control and distribute incredibly well. On a side note, I'm looking forward to seeing CCS play…

  4. Didn't McCallie beat Westminster 3-1 earlier this season? McCallie seems inconsistent i if anything (losing to Brentwood Academy, tying Farragut, beating Father Ryan)… so I think that teams like CCS or even Notre Dame could prove problematic for them… I say wait to see who has the most local wins at the end of the season! Then I think Farragut is one heckuva regional team to note…
