The Carson-Newman men’s soccer team battled Belmont Abbey to a 1-1 tie in its home opener on Sunday afternoon at McCown Field. The Eagles are now 1-1-1 on the season. Omar Cooke has 3 goals and Daniel Tackling has 2 assists in the three games thus far…
Josh Scott at Milligan College:
The Milligan College men’s soccer team started out on the right foot Saturday at West Virginia University-Institute of Technology (Montgomery, W.V.), as they defeated the Golden Bears 5-2. After 2 assists, senior Joshua Scott (London, England) drilled in an insurance goal to finish off the Golden Bears and give the Buffs their first win of the season.
John Simmons at King College:
Coming off wins over Montreat and Belomont Abbey, King looked to extend the winning streak against a strong Lenoir-Rhyne University side on Saturday. A thriller with alot of back an forth, with the score tied at 3-3 late in the game… But, in the 87th minute, John Simmons (Jr.; Essex, England) would be the hero as he struck a brilliant free kick past LRU’s Banuelos from 30 yards out to win the game.
