As Chattanooga FC gears up for a big league game tonight against first place Pumas FC from Birmingham, we thought we’d give you a quick overview of the division. Overall, it looks to be quite an evenly matched conference, from top to bottom. Here’s what we mean:
First place Pumas FC has 4 points from two league games so far: a 1-0 win over Atlanta FC at home, and a 1-1 draw with Rocket City United away. Pumas FC also beat RCU 1-0 in US Open Cup play last week.
Rocket City United has only one league game thus far, the tie against Pumas FC. They also lost to Pumas FC 1-0 last week in US Open Cup competition. They host Atlanta FC tonight in Huntsville.
Atlanta FC is 0-2 in league play with losses to Pumas FC and Chattanooga FC, both 1-0. Atlanta has played Tulsa FC in the US Open Cup last week, winning 3-2. They play away to RCU tonight.
Tulsa FC has not played a league game yet, but they have lost to fourth place Atlanta FC in US Open Cup play. Travel both to and from Tulsa will no doubt affect the play – as well as Tulsa’s doubling up games to play 2 in a weekend when they travel down to the southeast. It could be a tough row to hoe for them.
So, all in all, it looks like anyone can win on any given night here in the NPSL Southeast. Be sure to join us tonight for a great soccer game in Finley at 7:00 pm sharp!
